Rupert Graves

Biography

Born in the famous British seaside resort town of Weston-super-Mare, Rupert Graves left school at the age of fifteen to join the circus and become a clown. Soon after, he found his way into acting. He worked his way through various small roles on television for a time, before landing his first film role as Helena Bonham Carter's younger brother in Merchant Ivory's celebrated 'A Room with a View' (1985). He went on to star alongside Bonham Carter in three other films.

His myriad credits on television and in film include 'Inspector Morse', 'The Madness of King George' (1994), 'Spooks', the adaptation of Alan Moore's celebrated graphic novel 'V for Vendetta', historical legal drama 'Garrow's Law', 'Ashes to Ashes', a starring antagonistic role in 'Wallander' opposite Kenneth Brannagh, all four episodes of 'Single Father' opposite David Tennant, and all series of 'Sherlock' as DI Lestrade.

He has appeared in over twenty stage productions on both sides of the Atlantic.
